Gardener’s delight

Christine Alic (BA ’18), Administrative Assistant for Custodial and Grounds Services, harvests cucamelon (also known as mouse melons) from her plot in Brock’s Community Garden. Alic, who visits her garden every other day, says the fruit gets its name from its tiny watermelon appearance and distant relation to the cucumber. Alic also took home a campus-grown buttercup squash and some heirloom variety dragon egg cucumbers. Located beside the entrance to the Lot 2 parking lot near Theal House, Alic’s plot is one of 33 being tended for the 2023 season by faculty, staff and students.
