Exploring new perspectives

Applied Disability Studies PhD student Taylor Manuge (centre) engaged high school students in a game of PORTL as part of Brock’s Social Sciences Day on Thursday, Dec. 5. The game requires individuals to work in pairs with one person serving the role of teacher and the other of learner, encouraging players to use creative thinking and problem-solving skills to alter how they approach and teach behaviours. The Faculty of Social Sciences hosted about 380 high school students from the Niagara region and beyond, providing them with opportunities to learn about career paths stemming from Labour Studies, Geography and Tourism Studies, Economics, Political Science, Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice, Child and Youth Studies, Sociology and Critical Criminology, Applied Linguistics, Psychology, Women’s and Gender Studies, Applied Disability Studies, and Communication, Popular Culture and Film programs.
