On Global Confucius Institute Day, Sept. 24, a Chinese Ministry of Education delegation headed by Assistant Minister Chen Shun, along with members of the Education Division of the Chinese Consulate General in Toronto headed by Counsellor Xu Weiya, paid a visit to the Confucius Institute at Brock University. Brock Vice Provost James Mandigo, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies Jens Coorssen and Associate Director of Brock International Services Sheila Young, together with institute Director and Brock Professor Jennifer Li and Associate Chinese Director Hongfu Chen, welcomed the delegation, including a meeting and brief tour of the International Centre and Confucius Institute. This year, about 100 students are taking Chinese language and cultural courses through the Confucius Institute at Brock. Chinese students account for almost 1,200 of all of Brock's international students which is approximately 60 per cent of the international student population.
