Brock University marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities by honouring its Accessibility and Inclusion Recognition Award recipients during an event at Pond Inlet on Wednesday, Dec. 4. Demi Perrotta (left), Experiential Education Co-ordinator, Kinesiology, received the staff award for her exceptional efforts in training and supporting students, ensuring an inclusive environment through her thoughtful engagement with the disability community. PhD student Oya Pakkal (right) was recognized with the student award for her advocacy work in amplifying the voices of differently abled students within departmental decisions and her ongoing mentorship of fellow students. The event was organized by the Anti-Ableism and Mental Health Committee in collaboration with Brock’s Office of Human Rights and Equity.
