Proceeds from the fourth annual Denim, Diamonds and Diplomas gala, totalling $13,461, were recently presented by the Brock Leaders Citizenship Society (BLCS) to DSBN Academy. The gala is hosted each year by BLCS in support of the St. Catharines school, which aims to help students become the first in their families to attend post-secondary school. Funds are used to create bursaries in support of the cause. The money was presented by BLCS member and second-year General Sciences student Zach Harrietha (left) to representatives from the Education Foundation of Niagara, Nicole Smith, Event and Communications Officer, and Donna Abernethy, Program Co-ordinator. Denim, Diamonds and Diplomas has raised more than $73,000 for bursaries since the event’s inception in 2016.
