Brock University’s Nursing students, staff and faculty have raised funds and collected toys in support of one of the department's community partners. On Thursday, Dec. 14, Christy White (left), Nursing Clinical Co-ordinator, and Julia McNeaney (centre), fourth-year Nursing student and President of the Brock chapter of the Canadian Nursing Students’ Association, presented toys and $825 in gift cards to Angela Roy (right), Manager of the Niagara Region’s Nurse-Family Partnership. The free, evidence-based program is available to young people who are pregnant for the first time. Public health nurses make home visits throughout the person’s pregnancy and the child’s first two years of life. The program has shown to improve pregnancy outcomes, child health and development, and the economic self-sufficiency of the family.
