Grade 10 and 11 students from four local high schools spent the better part of Friday, Feb. 23 at Brock for the first-ever Science Day. Organized by the Faculty of Mathematics and Science in partnership with Recruitment, the five-hour experience gave science-minded students from Eden High School, St. Catharines Collegiate, Stamford Collegiate and Thorold Secondary School a preview of life at the University. The day began with presentations highlighting examples of the many experiential, co-op and career education opportunities available to Brock students. Department of Chemistry Professor Heather Gordon then walked the group through a mock first-year chemistry lecture. After lunch, students were invited to participate in Chemistry, Biology or Oenology and Viticulture for more hands-on experiences.
