On a warm, sunny and mildly windy day on Sunday Sept. 11, members of the Brock University Cyclones Team cycled one of three distances -100 km, 50 km or 25 km -through the Niagara Region as part of the 8th Big Move Cancer Ride.
Reaching speeds of up to 38-kilometres an hour, the cyclists ascended and descended over 2,700 feet during the ride.
Brock University members raised $7,190 for the charity ride. All the money raised stays in the Niagara Region enabling the Walker Family Cancer Centre to provide the necessary treatments/equipment and services to the more than 2,500 cancer patients diagnosed in Niagara each year so they can receive services close to the support of their family and friends.
Just prior to the 2016 ride, the Big Move Cancer Ride inducted the Brock Cyclones Team into the Platinum Peddlers' Club. Over the past five years, the Brock Cyclones have raised more than $58,000.
