Breaking barriers in nursing

Priscilla Boakye (left) and Nadia Prendergast from Toronto Metropolitan University’s Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing addressed a large crowd of Brock University Nursing students in the Goodman Atrium on Thursday, Feb. 27 during the first session of a multi-day conference on anti-racism in nursing education and practice. The event opened with discussions on the role of anti-racist pedagogy in addressing systemic inequities in health care. Later in the day, faculty and staff gathered to explore ways to integrate anti-racism into nursing curricula. The conference continues Friday, Feb. 28 with an open discussion on racism in health care and strategies for meaningful change.
