Black History Month prompts candid conversations

The What is Black series was held at Brock University throughout February in recognition of Black History Month and African Heritage Month. Hosted by the Black Students’ Association, the events provided an opportunity for the Brock community to hear from Black professional leaders in their fields and Brock student leaders, who came together for candid discussions about their experiences and how they overcame obstacles they’ve encountered. Pictured from left are student panellists Chiagozie Azuh, third-year Business Economics student; Joseph Brobbey, Vice-President and co-founder, BLSA; Ghaida Hamdun, Vice-President of Community Outreach, BLSA; and Maureen Gaka, Treasurer, BLSA; Jason Ineh, moderator and BLSA President and co-founder;  Brad Clarke, Brock’s Associate Vice-President, Students, and Interim Associate Vice-President, Equity; Gervan Fearon, former Brock President and current President of George Brown College; and Shaka Licorish, moderator and Anti-Racism and Inclusion Advisor, Brock Human Rights and Equity.
