Incoming students from the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences' five academic departments wrapped up their BaseCamp Short Hills Adventure on Tuesday, July 30. As part of their three-day adventure, participants, joined by student leaders Lewis Lau and Ana Ferreira, hiked from Camp Wetaskiwin (in Short Hills Provincial Park) to Brock with a lunch stop at Decew Falls. During their BaseCamp experience, students learned about what it takes to be successful as a university student, how to make healthy choices and where to go for help on campus. The initiative also gave them the chance to make new friends before arriving on campus in September. FAHS Dean Peter Tiidus, Associate Dean Kirsty Spence and Undergraduate Program Co-ordinator Katrina Bennie joined the group for lunch and a Q&A session. There are still openings on upcoming BaseCamp trips. For more details, visit http://www.brocku.ca/basecamp
