All-inclusive flag flies high for Pride Month

Brock marked the beginning of Pride Month with the raising of the University’s all-inclusive flag on June 6. Organized by the University’s Office of Human Rights and Equity, with support of Brock Pride and Pride Niagara, the flag-raising represents a show of solidarity with the Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer (2SLGBTQ+) communities on campus and in the community. From left are Melissa Wilson, Director of Human Rights and Equity; Jonathan Belgrave, Marketing Manager with Professional and Continuing Studies; Barbara Kuchar, part-time student and Brock Pride President; Mina Bello, a fourth-year Women’s and Gender Studies student and Brock Pride Vice-President; Tim Kenyon, Interim Provost and Vice-President, Academic; and Enzo De Divitiis, Pride Niagara Chair. The second annual Speaking With Pride professional development event took place following the ceremony in the Scotiabank Atrium, featuring a keynote speech by Brock McGillis, a former Ontario Hockey League goaltender and the first openly gay men’s professional hockey player.
