Acclaimed author inspires community

Hundreds of Niagara community members and students welcomed award-winning author Tanya Talaga to Brock's Residence 8 Atrium on Friday, March 21. Talaga discussed themes from her newest book, The Knowing, which chronicles the search for her missing and disappeared family members and broader conversations about the historical oppression of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. She also participated in an off-campus book talk in Thorold that evening. Both events were hosted by the Hadiya’dagénhahs First Nations, Métis and Inuit Student Centre in collaboration with the Office of Vice-Provost, Indigenous Engagement and the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences.
