Brock University researchers are making their mark, with dozens appearing on Stanford University’s 2026 ranking of the top two per cent of international scientists with the most citations.

Citations, which appear in academic papers, are references to earlier research. The number of times a researcher’s work is referenced in other peer-reviewed work is an important indicator of their research impact and reputation, says Vice-President, Research Tim Kenyon.

“Brock’s robust presence on this global list shows the rich contributions our researchers make to the global body of scientific knowledge in many different fields,” he says. “This knowledge, in turn, advances the well-being of societies around the world.”

Published Oct. 7, the 2026 “Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators” contains two tables: one listing a database of citations over the course of a career and another listing researchers for the most citations in 2025.
