Building a legacy: Goodman honours inaugural Who’s Who class

The accomplishments of some of the most influential Goodman School of Business alumni and supporters are being celebrated through a new initiative dedicated to recognizing and sharing their leadership journeys.

A group of 29 business leaders, innovators, philanthropists and community builders were honoured with the new Who’s Who recognition last week during an induction ceremony hosted by the alumni-led Goodman Legacy Council on Oct. 22 at the National Club. The event was sponsored by Bruce Power.

Brock President and Vice-Chancellor Lesley Rigg described the first class of Who’s Who inductees as flag bearers for Goodman.

“Through your achievements and leadership, you are elevating the reputation of both the Goodman School of Business and Brock University in the Niagara region and far beyond,” she said at the event.

The Goodman Legacy Council was founded earlier this year to elevate the Goodman brand, amplify the School’s engaged ambassador network and grow investment in a transformational capital pool.

Rigg also recognized the founding members of the Goodman Legacy Council for their vision, which has created a new model for alumni engagement with the University, at the ceremony.

“This initiative is about more than recognizing individual accomplishments,” she said. “It’s about building connections among alumni leaders and showcasing what is possible with a Goodman education.”

The Who’s Who induction is part of a larger effort to raise the profile of outstanding Brock business graduates. Each Who’s Who member is profiled on the Goodman Legacy website with a story that highlights both their career success and personal journeys.

At the event, Jim Ryan (BAdmin ’84), welcomed each member to the Who’s Who on behalf of the Council.

“Goodman Legacy wanted to develop a platform where we could tell the stories of successful graduates from the business school and individuals who maybe didn’t go to the School but made a significant contribution to the Goodman School of Business,” he said. “We honour this distinguished first group of Goodman School of Business Who’s Who inductees.”
