Cybersecurity doesn’t have to be complicated. Throughout Cyber Security Awareness Month (CAM), Brock’s Information Technology Services (ITS) team will share resources to help students, faculty and staff stay safe online using simple strategies for protecting their information and the University’s digital ecosystem.

CAM is an internationally recognized campaign held each October to inform people about the importance of cybersecurity.

This year’s theme, Cyber Safe Together, invites participants to strengthen their awareness by exploring how every member of our Brock community plays a role in keeping digital spaces safe.

Each week, Cyber Security Ontario will introduce a new topic with educational resources such as articles, infographics, games and quizzes to help everyone learn practical ways to stay safe online.

Brock students, faculty and staff can learn about how to:

• Build a strong foundation by developing healthy cyber habits, protecting personal information and learning to recognize common online threats.
• Shift from individual awareness to collective responsibility by learning how to recognize and report threats and help protect the shared digital environment.
• Explore the risks associated with digital collaboration by learning safer ways to share information through shared drives, group chats, social media and cloud platforms.
• Look beyond CAM by continuing good cyber habits, supporting others and helping build a more cyber-resilient community.

Brock ITS will share educational emails throughout the month around these topics. By spending just a few minutes each week learning practical skills, members of the Brock community will be better prepared to recognize threats, avoid fraud and stay secure online.
