The Brock community is mourning the loss of Christina Sewell, a member of the Custodial Services team who will be remembered for her friendly presence and ability to connect with others. She passed away on July 9.

Sewell supported a healthy and safe campus environment for 15 years. Most recently part of the midnight shift team, she was a familiar face on Brock’s main campus and especially in the Matheson Learning Commons and Plaza Building.

Custodial Supervisors Shelly Gianetto-Hill and Mellissa Woods remember Sewell as a dedicated colleague who took pride in her work. Known for always having sweets on hand to share, they say Sewell valued the friendships she built throughout her career and made a point of maintaining connections with colleagues even after they had retired.

Above all, Gianetto-Hill and Woods describe Sewell as being deeply passionate about her family and the relationships that mattered most to her, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who had the honour of knowing her.

CUPE 1295 President and colleague Stephen Pascuzzi will always remember Sewell’s electric personality, willingness to help others and ability to motivate her team.

“Christina loved to laugh — her laughter and sense of humour was unique only to her,” he says. “She was a pleasure to work with. We are proud of the work she did at Brock and she provided a great service to the University community. It was a privilege to call her a member of this union.”

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Lazy Lizard located at 396 Ontario St. in St. Catharines.
