The Rankin Cancer Run will take place at Brock University on Saturday, May 23, with participants starting off outside the Schmon Tower. Brock University is gearing up to welcome thousands of Rankin Cancer Run participants to campus on Saturday, May 23.
Several roads on campus will be closed to accommodate the event, which raises funds for local cancer care.
To accommodate the event, several road closures will be in effect from 8:30 a.m. to noon on the day of the race:
- The intersection of Isaac Brock Boulevard North and Flora Egerter Way, which will block access to the west side of campus, including Isaac Brock Circle and the Walker Sports Complex.
- The Suzanne Rochon-Burnett Circle, which is located near the intersection of University Road East and Glenridge Avenue.
Community members attending programming at the Walker Sports Complex — including swimming lessons, PALS and other activities — are welcome to park in Lot 1 or Lot 2 and are asked to follow event signage for directions to their destination.
Participants and volunteers are encouraged to park in Lot 2, which will be free to use on event day. Niagara Region Transit bus routes will be relocated to Glenridge Avenue, with no stops inside campus.
Please note that anyone parked on the west side of campus during the run may experience significant delays when exiting due to temporary road closures.
The day begins with registration at 8 a.m. followed by a kiddie sprint at 9:15 a.m. and opening remarks at 9:20 a.m., including from President and Vice-Chancellor Lesley Rigg and Associate Vice-President, Students Brad Clarke.
The run officially starts at 10 a.m., with a free post-run barbecue, water and bananas available afterward at Weather Station Field.
Brock will once again field a team and encourages students, employees and local community members to participate or volunteer at the event.
To join the Brock team, register as a team member and enter Brock University as the team name. Participants can choose to complete one or five kilometres.
Brock community members can sign up to volunteer at the run on ExperienceBU or by emailing Manager, Off-Campus and Community Experience Kristen Smith at [email protected]
