The 30-minute walk began outside Residence 8, followed the campus’ main roads to the Niagara Regional Headquarters and returned to its starting point.
Participants were encouraged to wear orange to show their support for reconciliation.
Orange shirts are worn in recognition of survivors of Canada’s residential schools and in memory of the children who never returned home. Shirts created by the Hadiya’dagénhahs team are available at the Campus Store, with proceeds directed to the Mohawk Village Memorial Park in Brantford, Ont., which is located on the grounds of the former Mohawk Institute Residential School.
