Rankin Cancer Run takes place on campus Saturday

Brock University will welcome thousands of community members to its main campus this weekend to raise funds for local cancer-care organizations.

The Rankin Cancer Run, which takes place Saturday, May 24, will impact traffic, parking and transit on the University’s main campus, with several road closures scheduled from 9:15 a.m. to noon.

The intersection of Isaac Brock Boulevard North and Flora Egerter Way will be fully closed during this time, blocking access to the west side of campus, including Isaac Brock Circle and the Walker Sports Complex from the east side of campus via Glenridge Avenue. The Suzanne Rochon-Burnett Circle from Glenridge Avenue will also be closed for the duration of the event.

Community members attending programming at the Walker Sports Complex, including swimming lessons, PALS and other activities, are welcome to park in either Lot 1 or Lot 2 and are asked to follow event signage for direction. Please note that anyone parked on the west side of campus during the run may experience significant delays when exiting due to temporary road closures.

Rankin Cancer Run participants and volunteers are encouraged to park in Lot 2, which will be free to use on event day.

During the event, Niagara Region Transit bus routes will be relocated to Glenridge Avenue and will not stop on campus.

The day begins with registration at 8 a.m., followed by a kiddie sprint at 9:15 a.m. and opening remarks at 9:20 a.m. The official run starts at 10 a.m., with a free post-run barbecue, water and bananas available afterward. The run will start and end at Weather Station Field.

This year marks the first time the full in-person Rankin Cancer Run  has taken place on campus since 2019. Brock, a lead sponsor, will once again field a team and encourages students, staff, faculty and community members to participate or volunteer.

To register, visit the Rankin Cancer Run website and select the Brock University team.

Volunteer sign up is available on ExperienceBU or by emailing Kristen Smith, Manager, Off-Campus and Community Experience at [email protected]
