Anne McCourt elected Chair of Board of Trustees

Dynamic and accomplished executive leader Anne McCourt has been elected to a three-year term as the next Chair of Brock’s Board of Trustees, starting July 1.

McCourt brings more than two decades of leadership experience in retail, operations and strategic change management to her new role at the helm of the University’s governing board.

McCourt recently retired as Senior Vice-President of Dealer Relations at Canadian Tire Corporation, where she was responsible for managing the relationship between the corporation and its network of Associate Dealers who own and operate Canadian Tire Retail stores across the country.

McCourt joined Canadian Tire in 2000 and held numerous senior leadership positions at the company, including roles in supply chain, logistics, productivity and non-merchandise procurement.

Throughout her career, McCourt distinguished herself as a results-driven leader known for her ability to deliver transformational change in complex environments. Her work focused on building consensus among diverse stakeholders, leading communication strategies around change and partnering with technology teams to implement innovative business solutions.

Prior to joining Canadian Tire, she held senior roles in manufacturing, management consulting and financial services, with a focus on quality, process management and organizational change.

She holds an engineering degree from the University of Waterloo.

“It is an incredible honour to serve as Chair of the Board of Trustees at one of this country’s leading institutions,” said McCourt. “Brock is a place of opportunity, innovation and community — values that I strongly believe in. I look forward to working with my fellow Trustees and the University’s leadership team to support Brock’s continued success and its commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for students.”

McCourt has served on the Board since 2018, including as Vice-Chair of the Board and Chair of the Human Resources Committee.

“I’m delighted to welcome Anne to her new role as Chair of the Board of Trustees,” says Lesley Rigg, President and Vice-Chancellor. “Her wealth of experience in strategic leadership in complex organizations will be instrumental as we execute our new strategic plan, and I look forward to continuing to work together.”

As Chair of the Board, McCourt will lead a group of dedicated volunteers responsible for the governance of Brock University, including oversight of its strategic direction, financial health and institutional accountability.

McCourt will succeed Mark Arthur, a Brock alumnus and successful wealth management executive who has served on Brock’s Board since 2015.
