Brock chefs to face off in culinary showdown

The battle for kitchen dominance is back — and this year it’s Market Eatery versus Fresh Food Company.

Brock Dining Services’ third annual Battle of the Chefs returns to Fresh Food Company DeCew on Monday, March 31, giving the Brock community the chance to sample two signature dishes and vote for their favourite.

This year’s culinary competition welcomes two special guests: Don of Activities and second-year Concurrent Education student Kleirstin Asuncion will join Market Eatery’s Chef Ron Davis and Chef Angelo Melchiorre, while Don of Activities and second-year Kinesiology student Alyssa Mayville will team up with Fresh Food Company’s Chef Neal Getz and Chef Harland Yeo.

“We are very excited to have Kleirstin and Alyssa participate in this year’s Battle of the Chefs,” says Malcolm Dales, Director of Dining and Conference Services. “Many of our students know the dons and our chefs, so it will be fun to see them team up go head-to-head in a friendly competition.”

Davis was crowned last year’s victor after more than 300 diners voted for his dish, an outcome he hopes to repeat this year.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the DeCew dining hall. Non-meal plan holders can pay a special rate of $12 at the door.
