What you need to know for Paint the Meridian Red

Badgers fans of all ages are expected to flock to downtown St. Catharines on Friday, Jan. 17 for the return of Brock University’s signature basketball event.

There’s still time to purchase tickets for Paint the Meridian Red, which will see the Brock Badgers men’s and women’s basketball teams take on the McMaster Marauders in back-to-back games at the Meridian Centre.

Here’s everything attendees need to know before heading to the event:

Tip-off times

Doors for the event open at 5 p.m., with the women kicking things off at 6 p.m. followed by the men at 8 p.m.

Don’t put the bad in Badger

Brock University prides itself on being a good community neighbour. Paint the Meridian Red is a thrilling community event, but everyone attending the game is reminded to celebrate and drink responsibly. Any attendees who are visibly intoxicated will be refused entry and no refunds for purchased tickets will be given. All spectators are reminded to hydrate, eat enough and make responsible decisions to ensure an amazing experience for everyone.

Getting to the game/parking

Students are encouraged to take the 316/416 bus from the main bus loop on campus with their U-Pass.

Please note that there is no parking at the Meridian Centre, so attendees who choose to drive are encouraged to park at one of the multiple downtown parking garages.

Tickets

Tickets are available for purchase at ticketmaster.ca until the first tip-off at 6 p.m.

Once the game has started, tickets will be available only at the Meridian Centre box office.

Ticket holders are encouraged to download their tickets onto their mobile device prior to entering the building as the Meridian Centre does not offer WIFI. Screenshots of tickets will not be accepted.

Suites also remain available for purchase by contacting Courtney Smith, Associate Director, Brock Sports and Recreation, at csmith5@brocku.ca

What you can bring

Outside food and drinks are not allowed inside the Meridian Centre, but empty, refillable water bottles are permitted. Bags smaller than 12″x12″x12″ are allowed, but laser pointers, professional cameras, drones, weapons of any kind and any drugs or alcohol are strictly prohibited.

Security

Guests must pass through a magnometer, so attendees must be prepared to remove keys, wallets, purses and anything metal that may set off the alarm.

More information about the Meridian Centre’s entry requirements is available on the venue’s website.

For last-minute Badgers gear, head to the Campus Store, which is open Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
