Frost Week events give students warm welcome to Brock

From cupcake decorating to ice skating, Brock University students can look forward to a packed schedule of Frost Week events offering opportunities to connect, have fun and ease into the Winter Term.

International students are invited to connect with peers and Brock International staff during a meet and greet on Wednesday, Jan. 8.

New graduate students also have a chance to connect and to learn more about Brock’s Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) during the Winter Welcome Warm-Up taking place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 8. Hosted by the GSA, the event will feature hot chocolate, prizes and insights into scholarships and awards.

On Thursday, Jan. 9, students can unwind with painting, bracelet-making and customizable drinks at the at the Crafts and Hot Chocolate Bar, hosted by the Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre and Student Life and Success.

The Brock University Students’ Union is offering students a range of activities, giveaways and community-building events between Monday, Jan. 13 and Friday, Jan. 17. BUSU’s Frost Week celebrations include:

Visit ExperienceBU or the BUSU website for additional BUSU events and RSVP information. Students attending BUSU’s Frost Week activities can enter a draw for a gift basket valued at more than $600 by scanning QR codes at each event.

The Hadiya’dagénhahs First Nations, Métis and Inuit Student Centre and the Office of the Vice-Provost, Indigenous Engagement are welcoming the Brock community to take part in the second annual Pow Wow on Friday, Jan. 17, which will feature dance, song, arts, cuisine and more than 60 Indigenous vendors. The grand entry begins at noon in the Ian D. Beddis Gymnasium.

Brock’s men’s and women’s basketball teams face off against the McMaster Marauders during Paint the Meridian Red on the evening of Jan. 17 in downtown St. Catharines. The event, which takes place at the Meridian Centre, features family-friendly activities and free transportation for Brock students with ticket purchases.
