United Way Campaign wraps up eventful Fall Term

At almost 75 per cent of the way towards reaching its 2024 fundraising goal, Brock’s United Way Committee is preparing to hit the ground running this winter.

Throughout January, committee members will connect with units across campus to share information about the campaign during department meetings. Teams interested in hosting a brief United Way Campaign presentation can email Michelle Leone at mleone@brocku.ca for more information.

Brock’s 2024 employee workplace fundraising campaign kicked off Sept. 10 with the goal of raising $162,000 to support more than 150 life-changing programs and initiatives funded by United Way Niagara that address issues such as poverty, homelessness, food insecurity, mental health, addiction, gender-based violence and other issues.

Faculty and staff can support the campaign by giving a one-time donation or an ongoing payroll contribution through Workday. Contributions can be designated to a United Way in any community in Canada or to a registered charity of the donor’s choice.

“With Brock celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, it’s particularly meaningful for us to give back to the communities that helped build the University,” said Colleen Whyte (BRLS ’97), Associate Professor with the Recreation and Leisure Department and Brock’s United Way Campaign Faculty Co-Chair. “Every dollar we give makes a difference in lives of people across Niagara.”

Visit Brock’s United Way Campaign SharePoint site to learn more about the campaign, including opportunities to volunteer with the committee, and follow the United Way Campaign community on Viva Engage for event and campaign updates.
