Several buildings at Brock main campus will experience power and network interruptions while upgrades are made to the University’s electrical system over the next week.
Emergency power will remain unaffected during the outages, which are scheduled for the following areas:
- Student-Alumni Centre and Plaza Building on Saturday, Dec. 21 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Welch Hall, South Block and Scotiabank Hall on Sunday, Dec. 22 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Roy and Lois Cairns Health and Bioscience Research Complex on Monday, Dec. 23 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Thistle Complex and Alphie’s Trough on Friday, Dec. 27 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Networks will be powered down in preparation for the power outages and both wired and wireless network access will not be available in the affected buildings until shortly after power is restored.
Employees and students in the affected areas are asked to power down computers, printers and sensitive equipment and to empty fridges and relocate anything at risk of spoilage before leaving campus in advance of the scheduled outages.
Some computers may not restart automatically after power is restored, preventing users from connecting remotely. Employees are asked to contact Information Technology Services by emailing ithelp@brocku.ca or calling 905-688-5550 x4357 if they are unable to connect remotely.
Questions can be directed to Facilities Management Customer Service at fm@brocku.ca or 905-688-5550 x3717.
