The Brock University Film Society (BUFS) is wrapping up its fall screenings with Conclave, an acclaimed drama starring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow and Isabella Rosselini.
In a performance that is receiving Oscar buzz, Fiennes plays a cardinal tasked with running the conclave of senior church leaders and potential papal candidates sequestered while they select a new pope, a process complicated by personalities, secrets and intrigue.
The film has already begun collecting festival awards, including the Ensemble Cast Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
For more than four decades, BUFS has been bringing the best in independent and art house cinema to the Niagara region with support from the Department of Communication, Popular Culture and Film in the Faculty of Social Sciences. It began its monthly program for 2024-25 earlier this year with Between the Temples and Memoir of a Snail.
Conclave screens Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Film House in downtown St. Catharines. Tickets for all screenings are available at the Film House. General admission is $10 or $8 for Film House members, plus tax.
