THEN AND NOW: Boomer’s evolution from court star to campus icon

To mark Brock’s 60th anniversary, The Brock News is running a monthly series looking back at the University’s history through photos.

Two years after the first Brock Badgers logo was announced and revealed in fall 1980, the ‘Brock Badger’ mascot (pictured above) made its debut at a men’s basketball game during Homecoming weekend in November 1982.

Boomer the Badger has become more than just a mascot for Brock University. Boomer embodies the spirit and pride of the entire campus. Boomer unites students, alumni and the community to foster a strong sense of identity and belonging. The community can rely on Boomer to boost morale at events and create lasting traditions that inspire school pride year-round.

More than 40 years later, Brock’s mascot has become the iconic Boomer the Badger and can be found pumping up the crowd at playoff games and major University events.
