Brock’s graduate onboarding ambassadors have spent the summer supporting incoming students as they prepare to begin grad school this fall.
Launched in May, the Graduate Onboarding Program offers a series of virtual information sessions through a custom Brightspace site designed specifically for new graduate students. The weekly sessions are led by graduate ambassadors — current students who bring first-hand experience — and feature Brock experts speaking on a variety of subjects.
Topics covered during the sessions include funding and tuition information, course registration, finding employment, and teaching assistant and research assistant resources, among others.
Lauryn Carrick, Associate Director of Graduate Engagement in the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (FGSPA), praises the program for its effectiveness in paving the path for new students.
“The Graduate Onboarding Program and ambassadors have proven to be an invaluable resource for new graduate students,” she says. “By connecting them with experienced peers and offering tailored support, the program ensures a smooth and more confident transition into graduate studies.”
New graduate students will have the opportunity to learn even more about key supports and resources and to hear from senior Brock leadership during the FGSPA’s New Graduate Student Welcome and Orientation on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
The event, which begins at 10 a.m., also includes a student panel, a complimentary lunch, and a service fair hosted in Market Hall.
Incoming graduate students can learn more about the event and register to attend on ExperienceBU.
