Brock appoints next Dean of Education

Mary-Louise Vanderlee (BA ’94, MEd ’96, BEd ’97) has been appointed as the next Dean of Brock University’s Faculty of Education, effective July 1.

Vanderlee currently serves as the Interim Dean, and prior to that served as the Associate Dean of Professional and Undergraduate Studies. She also previously served as the inaugural Chair of the Department of Educational Studies, and as the Chair of the Graduate and Undergraduate Studies at the Faculty of Education.

She has also provided significant community leadership and service to the University, including serving as an elected Senator and elected member of the Board of Trustees from 2012 to 2015.

In addition to her extensive administrative experience, Vanderlee has a strong research background that focuses on the various aspects of early childhood education and the indicators of health and well-being for children and their families.

She has received several distinctions for her work, including the Graduate Student Ambassador Award from the Brock Graduate Students’ Association in 2022 for her ongoing support and contributions to graduate studies. She was also nominated to deliver the keynote at the International Congress of Health Sciences in 2021, and held an Extraordinary Professor position at North-West University in South Africa from 2012 to 2015 in recognition of her work supporting curriculum development.

Vanderlee holds an Doctor of Education in Human Development Applied Psychology from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, as well as three degrees from Brock University including a Bachelor of Education (Primary/Junior), Master of Education (Teaching and Learning) and Bachelor of Arts (Psychology).
