Thesis defences — May 6 to May 10

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place between Monday, May 6 and Friday, May 10.

PhD in Psychology thesis defence

Jennifer Roters, a PhD in Psychology candidate, will defend the thesis “The song remains the same? Responses to adversity in childhood” on Monday, May 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in PLZ 600F.

The examination committee members are Brian Roy, Chair; Angela Book, Supervisor; Shelley Aikman, External Examiner (University of North Georgia); Ann-Marie DiBiase, Internal Examiner; and Drew Dane and Tim Murphy, Advisory Committee.

Master of Science in Chemistry thesis defence

Maneesha Wijesundara, a Master of Science in Chemistry candidate, will defend the thesis “Synthesis and Properties of π-Extended Phenoxyl Radicals” on Tuesday, May 7 at 11:30 a.m. in GSB 305 in hybrid format.

The examination committee includes Melanie Pilkington, Chair; Martin Lemaire, Supervisor; Kenneth Maly, External Examiner (Wilfrid Laurier University); and Melanie Pilkington and Art van der Est, Committee Members.

PhD in Chemistry thesis defence

Christopher Wicks, a PhD in Chemistry candidate, will defend the thesis “Towards the total synthesis of semi-synthetic opiate species and presilphiperfolan-1-ol” on Friday, May 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in virtual format.

The examination committee members are Elizabeth Vlossak, Chair; Costa Metallinos, Supervisor; Michael A. Kerr, External Examiner (Western University); Ian Patterson, Internal Examiner; and Jeffrey Atkinson, Dustin Duncan and Louis Barriault (University of Ottawa), Advisory Committee.
