BUSU event to spark conversations between students, local politicians

Brock University Students’ Union (BUSU) is providing an opportunity for Brock students to connect with local, provincial and federal politicians over a free slice of pizza at an upcoming event.

Taking place Wednesday, March 13, Pizza with Politicians will provide a platform for students to gain valuable insights into the world of politics and public service, discover potential career paths and discuss post-secondary education.

“As students, we are often left out of political conversations and the spaces where decisions are being made,” said BUSU Vice-President of External Affairs Alyssa Hall. “By bringing government representatives to campus, my hope is that students have the chance to express their thoughts, opinions and concerns about what is happening in post-secondary education to the politicians that have been elected to represent them municipally, provincially and federally.”

Politicians participating in the event include:

  • Lord Mayor of Niagara-on-the-Lake Gary Zalepa
  • Member of Parliament (MP) for Niagara Centre Vance Badawey
  • Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for St. Catharines Jennie Stevens
  • MPP for Niagara Centre Jeff Burch
  • Catharines Mayor Mat Siscoe
  • Thorold Mayor Terry Ugulini
  • MP for St. Catharines Chris Bittle

Pizza with Politicians, which will include free pizza and beverages, takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. in Isaac’s Lounge. This event will have limited space available. Visit the BUSU website for more information on the event and to register to attend.
