Provost Lynn Wells appointed President of Laurentian University  

Brock Provost and Vice-President, Academic Lynn Wells has been appointed President and Vice-Chancellor of Laurentian University, effective April 1.  

Wells arrived at Brock in 2020 in the role of Provost, also serving as Interim President and Provost from July 2021 to October 2022 following the departure of President Gervan Fearon. Wells came to Brock following previous roles as Associate Vice-President, Students and Teaching at MacEwan University and Vice-President, Academic at First Nations University of Canada in Regina.  

“I want to offer Lynn my heartfelt congratulations on her appointment and thank her for her service to Brock,” says Lesley Rigg, President and Vice-Chancellor. “Lynn joined Brock at the height of the COVID pandemic in July 2020, eventually acting as both Interim President and Provost. Brock has had significant accomplishments during her tenure, including the emergence from the pandemic and return to on-campus activity, the relocation of the Hamilton campus to Burlington, the very successful Canada Summer Games and the approval of Brock’s first program in Engineering.  

“Laurentian will benefit immensely from her wise judgment, her consultative decision-making style and her unwavering commitment to students, staff and faculty.” 

The appointment of an Interim Provost will be announced shortly, with the launch of a full search for a new Provost and Vice-President, Academic in the coming weeks.
