Brock community invited to observe days of remembrance

Two days of remembrance will be observed at Brock and across the country during the upcoming week.

On Wednesday, Nov. 8, Indigenous Veterans Day will encourage reflection on the legacy and service of First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples to Canada’s war and peacekeeping efforts.

During the day, the University’s Hadiya’dagénhahs First Nations, Métis and Inuit Student Centre will host a beaded poppy-making workshop led by Shyann Jenkins, Niagara Health Indigenous Community Outreach.

Meanwhile, Remembrance Day on Saturday, Nov. 11 is a day to pay tribute to members of the Canadian Armed Forces and Royal Canadian Military Police who died serving Canada during times of war, conflict and peace, and honour those who continue to serve the country today.

Members of the Brock community are invited to take part in various remembrance events taking place across the region. Brock President Lesley Rigg has also recorded a video message in honour of the day.

Both the message and additional information about Indigenous Veterans Day and Remembrance Day can be found at brocku.ca/remember
