BrockTV festival seeking student filmmakers

BrockTV’s popular Render This Film Festival is back after a three-year hiatus and registration is now open for student film crews interested in showcasing their work for local industry professionals.

Render This will feature expert judges, including the founders of Foregrounds Media and their senior editor as well as the curatorial assistant of Niagara Artists Centre. All Brock students are welcome to submit a short film for a chance to win $950 in prizes.

“I am excited for the return of the Render This Film Festival,” said Joel Antony, BrockTV Video Manager. “After being on hold for three years, the festival’s return is welcomed by Brock students who are interested in showing their creativity through film in front of their peers.”

Render This will take place Wednesday, Nov. 8 with films showing at The Film House, located in the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre in downtown St. Catharines.

Students interested in submitting a film for the festival must register through the Brock University Students’ Union (BUSU) website. Registration closes Thursday, Oct. 12, and a film brief will be emailed to registrants on Friday, Oct. 13. Participants will have until Friday, Oct. 27 to submit their films.

Students looking to support their peers can get free tickets to the festival through the BUSU website. Tickets will be available on Monday, Oct. 16.
