Celebratory barbecue to kick off Fall Term

The sounds of summer and aroma of barbecue will fill the air in Jubilee Court this month as an annual Brock tradition makes its return.

Celebrating the start of the academic year, the President’s Annual Opening of Term Barbecue will take place Thursday, Aug. 31 from noon to 1:30 p.m.

The event will offer faculty and staff food fresh from the grill along with a side of live music and lawn games. In case of inclement weather, Market Hall will serve as a backup location.

Her first Opening of Term Barbecue since beginning at Brock in November, President and Vice-Chancellor Lesley Rigg will provide remarks and join Brock’s Vice-Presidents in serving lunch and offering thanks to faculty and staff for their ongoing service and commitment to the University.

The lunch menu will include a choice of beef burger, veggie burger or ballpark hot dog with a side of chips and canned pop. Gluten-free and Halal options will also be available.

Tickets for the event, which have been subsidized by the President’s Office, are $6 each and can be purchased by Monday, Aug. 21 on Eventbrite.

Popcorn and ice cream will also be available to purchase by donation. All proceeds will go directly to the Brock fund, which supports the University’s areas of greatest need and strategic campus priorities, resulting in enhancements for students, faculty, staff and the community.

Employees are asked to bring their Brock Card and ticket confirmation on the day of the event.
