While Brock’s student-athletes excel on the court, field and ice, their skills are just as sharp in the classroom.
Recognizing academic success from the 2021-22 academic year, the Brock Badgers proudly acknowledged 265 student-athletes at the Celebration of Academic Excellence at Pond Inlet on Wednesday, Jan. 11.
The Badgers Academic Excellence Award honours student-athletes who achieve an average of 80 per cent or higher within their program of study. This year’s recipients received a certificate and pin at the annual breakfast event.
As student-athletes achieve honour roll status in subsequent years, they will receive an additional, different pin each year, marking their academic success across their Brock journey.
“Today marked a special day in that we are excited to reintroduce our academic excellence celebration,” said Brock Sports and Recreation Executive Director Melissa Krist. “We are so proud of all our student-athletes that have found success academically while representing their school on the playing field. Given that nearly 40 per cent of all Brock Badger student-athletes were recognized as part of this morning’s celebration, it is an incredible achievement.”
In addition to the institutional honours, a total of 130 Badgers qualified as 2021-22 U SPORTS Academic All-Canadians, which are student-athletes who achieve an academic standing of 80 per cent or higher while playing a U SPORTS-sanctioned sport.
