Thesis defences Nov. 7 to Nov. 11

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place from Monday, Nov. 7 to Friday, Nov. 11.

PhD in Physics thesis defence 

Samin Tajik, a PhD in Physics candidate, will defend the thesis “Using Persistent Homology for Topological Analysis of Protein Interaction Network of Candida Antarctica Lipase B Molecular Dynamic Simulation Model” on Monday, Nov. 7 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. in a virtual format.

PhD in Psychology thesis defence 

Tiago Guardia de Souza e Silva, a PhD in Psychology candidate, will defend the thesis “Lifestyle factors and neuroimaging metrics as predictors of cognitive performance in healthy aging” on Thursday, Nov. 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. in PLAZA 600F.

The examination committee includes Brian Roy, Chair; Karen Campbell, Supervisor; Dale Stevens, External Examiner (York University); Rebecca MacPherson, Internal Examiner; and Kimberly Cote and Stephen Emrich, Advisory Committee Members. 

Master of Arts in Geography thesis defence

Abigail Mensah, a Master of Arts in Geography candidate, will defend the thesis “Rethinking Consumerism, Innovation and Tourism Sustainability in a Post-Viral World: An Exploratory Study of PIRT Usage in Niagara’s Geoparks” on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. via video conference.

The examination committee includes Dawn Zinga, Chair; David Fennell, Supervisor; Richard Butler, External Examiner (Professor Emeritus, Department of Geography and Environment, Western University); Christopher Fullerton, Graduate Program Director; and Danuta de Grosbois and Michael Ripmeester, Committee Members.

Master of Education thesis defence

Heather Kavsak, a Master of Education candidate, will defend the thesis “A Parent’s Autoethnography: Examining My Experiences and Identity as Parent, Educator, and Researcher While Teaching Literacy to My Adolescent Sons Who Have Autism and Use Augmentative and Alternative Communication” on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 9:30 a.m. in a virtual format.
