Collective bargaining update — Aug. 19

Brock University and CUPE 1295 returned to the bargaining table Friday, Aug. 19. The union represents approximately 150 maintenance, custodians and tradespeople at Brock.

The two parties have met nearly a dozen times since beginning negotiations in March. Friday’s meeting includes a provincial mediator and follows CUPE’s request for a no board report earlier this month. The union has set an Aug. 22 strike deadline.

Brock is committed to reaching a fair collective agreement that reflects the importance of the contributions of members of the bargaining unit, while being financially responsible and sustainable.

While the University is hopeful a negotiated agreement can be reached, it has begun business continuity planning.

Updates will be shared on Brock’s website as new information becomes available. Campus updates are also provided on the University’s social media channels.
