Heart memorial to honour victims of residential schools, colonial violence

Members of the Brock community are invited to contribute heart-shaped messages to a participatory memorial that aims to remember those who suffered in residential schools as well as through other forms of colonial violence.

The heart garden initiative invites participants to visit Aboriginal Student Services (AbSS) in TH145, where they will decorate paper hearts that will be used to raise awareness of the findings of the Truth and Reconciliation commission, while providing messages of hope and accountability. The hearts will then be displayed outdoors on Brock’s main campus during the 2022 Canada Summer Games, from Saturday, Aug. 6 to Sunday, Aug. 21.

Drop-in workshops will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, Thursday, July 21, Monday, July 25, and Tuesday, July 26.

No registration is required.
