If you’re looking for a way to help children in the community during the holiday season, the annual Community Care Adopt an Angel tree and Presents for Kids programs are coming back to Brock University.

The tree will be going up Nov. 12 in the Campus Store and has names of Niagara children in need of some cheer.

Brock students, faculty and staff pick a name from the tree and buy a gift for that boy or girl and drop it off, unwrapped, at the Campus Store by Dec. 10.

If time is an issue, the Campus Store will also have pre-purchased, age appropriate gifts to match to a child.

The response from the Brock community was tremendous in 2013, when 767 children were reached. It easily surpassed the goal of 500.

The goal this year is 625 children.

Brock faculty, staff and students will be given the option to add $1 to their purchase until Dec. 10 as part of the Presents for Kids initiative.

All proceeds will be used to buy additional presents for Niagara children this year. Everyone donating will be able to sign a paper cutout to be displayed on the Campus Store’s front window.

Please remember that Community Care is also in desperate need of new warm winter accessories, such as mitts, gloves, hats, scarves, boots, coats, snowsuits, long underwear, PJs, slippers and socks.
