Public workshops to detail equity, diversity and inclusion best practices

Students, staff and faculty from Brock and members of the broader Niagara community are invited to register for an upcoming series of workshops focused on helping organizations build more diverse, inclusive and equitable communities.

Co-hosted by Brock’s Social Justice Research Institute (SJRI) and United Way Niagara, “Exploring Best Practices for Meeting Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Goals: A Three-Part Workshop Series” will take place virtually over the coming months to help organizations identify and address their EDI goals.

The series includes:

  • “The Challenges” — Thursday, March 31 from noon to 1:30 p.m.
  • “Best Practices” — Thursday, April 28 from noon to 1:30 p.m.
  • “Next Steps” — Thursday, May 26 from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Speakers at the workshops will include Brock Professor Liette Vasseur and Trecia McLennon, the University’s Director, EDI Culture and Education, as well as representatives from YWCA Niagara Region, Learning Disabilities Association Niagara Region, Niagara Chapter Native Women, Positive Living Niagara, Niagara Health and Niagara Region.

Please note that although registration in all three sessions is not required, the second and third workshops will build on previous sessions.

Anyone interested in participating is invited to learn more about each session and register on Eventbrite or contact Tamara Coleman-Lawrie at United Way Niagara with questions.
