Input sought from Brock grad students for national survey

Brock University’s Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) is reminding students to complete the Canadian Graduate and Professional Student Survey (CGPSS) by Friday, March 11.

In collaboration with the Canadian Association for Graduate Studies (CAGS) and a third-party service, the survey was sent out to qualified graduate students through email on Wednesday, Jan. 19 and more recently on Wednesday, Feb. 16.

The CGPSS is conducted every three years, with most major universities in Canada participating.

The survey will help Brock to gain a comprehensive understanding of the quality of the graduate student experience at the University.

The questions on the survey pertain to a broad range of areas, including students’ educational, personal, social and professional experiences.

Vice-Provost and Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Suzanne Curtin, says the survey is an important tool that can be used to help shape Brock’s graduate student experience.

“We strive to create a positive experience for all students by encouraging a safe, professional environment that values inclusion and transparency,” she says. “The survey results can be used for a multitude of FGS strategies, including finding innovative ways to continue to best support our students.

“We hope to hear from a diverse group of students to help maintain our long-term goal of removing barriers in supporting under-represented groups.”

Students who complete the survey will be entered into draws for an iPad and $50 Amazon gift cards, which will be held after the March 11 deadline.

The voluntary survey is completely confidential.

Anyone with questions about the survey can contact the Faculty of Graduate Studies at graduatestudies@brocku.ca

Survey results from previous years can be found on the CAGS website.
