Badgers hosting free holiday skate Saturday

The Brock community is invited to join members of several Brock Badgers varsity teams for a free holiday skate taking place Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Seymour Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre in St. Catharines.

Hosted by the Student-Athlete Leadership Council, the event will consist of two one-hour skating sessions from 2 to 3 p.m. and 3 to 4 p.m., which will each have a 140-person on-ice capacity limit.

To ensure physical distancing can safely be maintained, all skaters must sign up in advance on the Brock University Tickets website. Further safety measures will include completing a COVID-19 screening, demonstrating proof of vaccination, wearing masks before and after skating, and putting on skates using chairs in the lobby instead of in the changerooms.

It is also recommended that all participants wear a helmet while skating, and helmets are a requirement for skaters aged six and under.

While the event is free, those who are able to are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to donate to community care.

After they skate, all participants will also receive complimentary tickets to the Brock Badgers women’s hockey game taking place at Seymour Hannah that evening at 5:15 p.m.

Any questions about the holiday skate can be sent to tickets@brocku.ca
