Thesis defences — Nov. 29 to Dec. 3

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place from Monday, Nov. 29 to Friday, Dec. 3.  

Master of Sustainability thesis defence

Baharak Razaghirad, a Master of Sustainability candidate, will defend the thesis “Urban Tree Canopy Assessment Using Geospatial Technologies: A Case Study of the Town of Lincoln, Ontario” on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 9 a.m. via video conference.

The examination committee includes Rosemary Condillac, Chair; Marilyne Jollineau, Supervisor; Tenley Conway, External Examiner (Professor, Department of Geography, Geomatics and Environment, University of Toronto); Ryan Plummer, Graduate Program Director; and Jessica Blythe and Darby McGrath, Committee Members.

Master of Geography thesis defence

Rebekah Casey, a Master of Arts in Geography candidate, will defend their thesis “There’s No Place Like (Rural) Home: Why People Choose Rural Despite Decline” on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 1 p.m. via video conference.

The examination committee includes Dawn Zinga, Chair; Chris Fullerton, Supervisor; Rhonda Koster, External Examiner (Deputy Provost and Vice-Provost Teaching and Learning, Lakehead University); Jeff Boggs, Graduate Program Director; and David Telfer and Kyle Rich, Committee Members.

PhD thesis defence

Biljana Indovski, a PhD candidate, will defend their thesis “Structural, Magnetic, Dielectric, and Optical Properties of DyCrO3 and GeNi2O4 Materials” on Friday, Dec. 3 from 2 to 5 p.m. via video conference.

The examination committee includes Brian Roy, Chair; Fereidoon Razavi and Maureen Reedyk, Co-Supervisors; Thad Harroun, Advisory Committee; John Wei, External Examiner (University of Toronto); and Melanie Pilkington, Internal External Examiner.
