Building Better Research workshops back for second year

The Office of Research Services and the Brock University Library have launched the second year of the Building Better Research (BBR) professional development workshop series.

This year’s sessions will touch on a variety of topics, including open access publishing; intellectual property and commercialization; equity, diversity and inclusion; and community engagement, among others.

“The basis of the BBR series is to respond to researchers’ needs and questions and offer current and timely support in a complex and evolving research environment,” says Nicole Nolan, Associate University Librarian, Research.

Co-organizer Sharlee Cranston-Reimer, Research Officer in the Office of Research Services, says the workshops aim to make it easier for researchers to apply for grants, improve grant outcomes, build a culture of research, help to onboard new researchers and support graduate students.

“Last year’s series brought together groups of people who have a lot of overlap but don’t have a lot of opportunities to connect,” she says. “Through the workshops, we saw people making connections and building relationships, and we are thrilled to continue with that momentum.”
