Feedback needed on potential new learning management systems

Brock University wants to hear from its faculty, staff and students about expectations for a new learning management system (LMS).

The University is conducting an evaluation of its current LMS, known as Sakai, and is looking for feedback from the Brock community through the Mission LMS Sandbox experience.

In addition to supporting the delivery of online courses, Brock’s LMS allows instructors to communicate with students and provide essential course content, such as links to readings, the course syllabus, course announcements and assignment submissions.

The Mission LMS Sandbox experience is an opportunity to explore the leading learning management systems on the market. All feedback will help Brock’s LMS Review Resource Selection Committee develop criteria for a future LMS for the University. Feedback submissions will also enter participants in a draw for prizes.

The systems being explored include:

  • Learn Ultra
  • Brightspace
  • Canvas
  • OpenLMS (Moodle)
  • Sakai 21 (Community version)

Participants are randomly assigned a LMS Sandbox mission when they access the site. Each Sandbox feedback submission will enter the respondent in a draw for prizes. Students will have a chance to win one $1,000 tuition waiver, four $500 tuition waivers or 10 $100 tuition waivers. Faculty and staff can win hats, hoodies and water bottles.

Interested participants can learn more and accept their first mission on the Mission LMS Sandboxes website.
