Learn how to run with Brock Recreation’s free virtual training program

It’s time to dust off those running shoes.

Brock Recreation is launching a free six-week virtual Learn to Run 5K training program beginning Wednesday, May 26.

No previous running experience is required as the program is geared to all skill levels.

The program’s goal is to train participants to run five kilometres without walking by the end of the six training sessions.

“We wanted to continue to offer a variety of recreational and well-being options to students and the Brock community,” said Greg Zwiep, Program Manager, Recreation. “As we move into warmer weather, this program will encourage participants to get outside and take part in a healthy and safe fitness option.”

The Learn to Run 5K virtual training program teaches participants proper running technique, nutrition facts, pre- and post-run stretches and more through weekly live online Zoom meetings.

The program is led by Zone Fitness Centre Trainer Heather Spooner and runs until Wednesday, June 30.
