Syracuse researcher to discuss wine analytics at Goodman webinar

Analytics are changing how we work and live, and a Syracuse researcher says they’re also having a big impact on the wine industry.

In this week’s Goodman’s Luncheon Speaker Series, Burak Kazaz will discuss how analytical methods can be adapted to help winemakers, distributors and consumers. The webinar presentation titled ‘Wine Analytics,’ will take place on Friday, Sept. 18 from noon to 2:30 p.m. via Lifesize.

The Steven Becker Professor of Supply Chain Management, and Laura J. and L. Douglas Meredith Professor for Teaching Excellence at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University will discuss his recent research developments involving the use of analytics in determining wine valuation.

“Rather than relying on the palates of several tasting experts alone, I will show how climatic and market information is incorporated into the determination of realistic prices,” says Kazaz. “Realistic prices, developed through analytical methods, create transparency in this highly opaque market, build investor confidence and make the trade of wines more efficient.”

The Goodman School of Business Luncheon Speaker Series provides Goodman faculty, staff and students  an informal opportunity to listen to and discuss recent advances in research, teaching and practices with international business colleagues.

Anyone is welcome to join by clicking on the Lifesize webinar link at the date and time of the scheduled lecture presentation.
