Healthy cities author to visit Brock Tuesday

Renowned public health expert Karen Lee is headed to Niagara on Tuesday, Jan. 28 to share her new book Fit Cities, as part of her Canadian book tour.

Niagara Region Public Health, in collaboration with the Walker Family YMCA and Brock University, has arranged two book signing sessions for the community to connect with her. Lee will be at the YMCA in St. Catharines from 7 to 8 a.m. and then at the Brock University Campus Store from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

With experience spanning more than two decades, Lee has worked behind the scenes to help people worldwide create opportunities for healthy living in everyday life. Working with civic leaders, city planners and architects, she has been a pioneer in addressing today’s leading health problems, such as obesity, heart disease, strokes, cancers, and diabetes.

During her visit, Lee will also engage with community leaders from across Niagara in a panel discussion, and leverage her research to enhance and inform local strategies to help Niagara residents live healthier lives.
